4:52 pm 26th April Called the police on us while we were there, NOT DOING ANYTHING, and said we threw bottles at them and 'chased them around'.
WHAT THE FUCK. I'm angry.
5 police cars was it? The policeman said (and I quote) 'This is against human rights, this is a religion. It's like protesting outside of a mosque.' |

5:04 pm 26th April It's not a religion. I think we need to tell them that over and over again until they get the idea... |

5:08 pm 26th April The police are doing their job, leave it out. This is the fault of Scientology and the fact that they sell themselves as a religion.
The police are cool with us usually so let's stay on their good sides ok. |

5:13 pm 26th April Fuck. Okay, you guys all need to write down as much detail about this ASAP. Like where exactly were you, witnesses (local shopkeeprs or whatever), what was said before the cops turned up, etc. It being London I'm sure there CCTV footage too.
This needs to be followed up (calmly and professionally) with the police, so it can rain down on the Scilon's head for making false accusations YET AGAIN. |

5:38 pm 26th April So they stopped the protest because of suspected 'religious hatred'? Is that the impression you got? |

5:38 pm 26th April I've probably left a lot out but someone can fill the missing bits:
At around 3pm we arrived at Goodge Street tube station with the intention of standing/dancing on the other side of the street from the Scientology and Dianetics center. We stood directly opposite, next to the crossing, and played some music. The employees of Lombok furniture store came outside shortly afterwards to ask us to turn off our music which we promptly did, but continued to dance. There was some shouting from our members, chanting 'Scientology is a cult', 'Don't believe their lies' and such things. Each of us had a sign, ranging from 'Free Hugs' to 'Knowledge is free, Scientology isn't'. Nothing offensive was written on the signs, as when police arrived they read every one and stated that nothing was an offence.
As soon as we arrived, the Scientologists performing 'free stress tests' outside the building ran to the phones. It was obvious that they were phoning the police but since we believed we were doing nothing wrong, we weren't bothered. She was counting how many of us there were and we offered her help by shouting 'SIXTEEN', the amount of us that were present.
About half an hour to fourty minutes later, two police cars turned up. The policewoman was very friendly and kind, read all our signs and told us that she had heard a report of one of us throwing a bottle of water AT the Scientologists, and that apparently we had 'chased them around' in our masks. None of which was true, and goes against practically everything we advocate. She said that they would check CCTV to make sure nothing had happened, and that if that was the case, then we'd be free to go without name taking etc. |

5:38 pm 26th April Then 3 more police cars turned up, with sergeants to talk to us. One of them told us that they were again checking CCTV to make sure we hadn't commited the said 'bottle throwing' offence, but also that we were breaching human rights by protesting against a religion. He said that it was equal to 'protesting outside a mosque', and that this was what they believe. When I attempted to explain that Scientology was in fact not a recognised religion in the UK he told be to be quiet or they would have to take our details. We listened, and left on the conditions that we removed our masks and stopped protesting. |

5:38 pm 26th April Isn't this against the law, wasting police time, etc.
If you have cctv etc you can prove it. |

5:45 pm 26th April Great account. Everything's as I would expect apart from 'left on the conditions that we removed our masks and stopped protesting.' Was there a reason that the police demanded this? Maybe they just couldnt be bothered risking getting any more phonecalls from Scientology. |

6:14 pm 26th April from London Lulz and YourRights.org.uk
'Unlike public processions, there is normally no requirement to give prior notice of an assembly.'
http://www.yourrights.org.uk/your-rights/chapters/the-right-of-peaceful-protest/static-demonstrations-rallies-and-assemblies/static-demonstrations-and-assemblies.shtml
Maybe it's worth going down to the police station and getting an official statement of what is and is not allowed.
We dont want to fall into the trap of them saying we're inciting religious hatred when we're not. This may (unfortunatley) mean that we have to stop shouting things like 'xenu'. I'm not a moralfag and I enjoy shouting that shit to scilons who think the church is brilliant, but if hte worst comes to the worst we might.
What happened today maybe a sign of how scilons think they can bait us and stop our lulz (protests).
Be strong fellow Anons! |

6:38 pm 26th April hm probably going a bit far to suggest corruption in this case. Most likely the officer in charge just wanted the incident over with quickly, without really caring what the law says. 'It's like protesting outside of a mosque' does sound like a Scilon talking point tho... |
